Announcement 6 June 2020: Footy is back

07/06/2020

Footy is back for 2020!

We are very please to announce that the Western Australian Football Commission (WAFC) in conjunction with the WA Government, has announced that community football competition will be commencing from July 18 2020, in line with WAFC Return to Play Guidelines and State Government Covid-19 restrictions.

The Auskick season will also recommence from July 19 2020. The WA State Government restrictions of 1.5m social distancing and the 1 person per 2m2 will apply, along with the 100/300 rule. Registrations for Auskick will reopen very shortly and we will keep everyone informed when this is announced.

As of 6th June 2020, full team training can occur, involving both contact and match simulation as well as the use of football equipment. There can be a maximum of 100 participants (including players and spectators) on one oval at any one time. If a club has 2 full sized ovals that are available for use then there can be 200 participants up to a maximum of 300 participants per venue. This is in line with the WA State Government restrictions that are currently in place.

The club will continue to keep a track via a register, of which participants are in attendance at all training sessions, and this must be available upon request by the WAFC, local council or health authorities.

Spectators will be allowed at both training and on game days with current social distancing measures of 1.5m, and no more than 1 person per 2m2 still applying. All those in attendance will be included in the 100 maximum participants per oval restriction.

All committee, coaching staff and other key volunteers are in the process of undergoing the Australian Government COVID-19 infection control training and all players, volunteers and families are encouraged to download the COVIDSafe App before attending training or game days.

We will very shortly have access to the Peet Park clubrooms including changerooms with current social distancing measures in place and full hygiene protocols enforced at all times.

Details will also follow soon for a resumption of a full training schedule and competition fixtures.

As you know, a footy club exists on the strength of it’s volunteers and I would like to firstly thank all those who have assisted and supported the club during this difficult time. We are also putting the call out to any parents who might be able to assist their team or the club in general in any way possible this season, so that we can ensure that the 2020 season is as successful as possible.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding through this challenging time as we strive to do all that we need to so we can safely get the kids back on the park and enjoying footy again.

I for one am looking forward to an exciting 2020 season ahead!

Tony Pickburn

BJFC President
